I’m an academic obsessed with visuals.

Balancing between crooked creativity and rigorous research is totally my thing. During my PhD, I enjoyed looking for the core mechanisms of creative thinking so much that I ended up running a multi-meta-analysis. But working with endless streams of words exhausted me. Taking visual notes helped me focus, memorize the core of the prior literature, and catch the gist of conference talks and keynotes. I’ve illustrated my own conference talks and posters and created visual job applications. I sketchnoted ideas during my meetings with supervisors. In the academic world, we all tend to lose ourselves in abstract words, alternative explanations, and moderated mediations. That’s why I want to help academics make their research more tangible: create the big picture - or rather, a big drawing - of their abstract intellectual work.

How I visualize your ideas

First, I ask you about the purpose and the target audience of your visual summary. We discuss which information is essential to include and I inform you about the price. It depends on the type, quality, and length of the source material, as well as on the type of visualization.

Then, it’s time for me to get creative! I brainstorm the form and the details of your summary. Sometimes I ask you to review some icons or to give more background information. This ensures that we’re on the same page and that you’ll be 100% satisfied with the end result.

At this point, I send you the full visual summary, which could be a final version. However, I suggest that you look closely at the text and icons, and check whether it conveys your message accurately. If something isn’t right, I offer one round of revisions without additional cost.
